Introduction

The City & Guilds accredited course is the national occupational standard for individuals who work or are progressing towards working within a low risk confined space environment. The low risk course covers both water & non-water industries, for those who work or want to work in confined spaces such as meter pits, valve chambers and stairwells. This course is delivered at our City & Guilds approved training centres in Swansea & Cardiff.

The City & Guilds Low risk Confined space course provides the knowledge and skills to safely work in low risk confined spaces, including those associated with lone working where the application of proper procedures is required. Low risk confined space environments often have entries no deeper than three meters with an unobstructed vertical lift and a straight ladder into a dark chamber.

Delegates will gain practical experience of using fall arrest and retrieval equipment. Tasks will also include appropriate ladder-climbing techniques which will allow for safe access and egress into a confined space.

Due to the nature of the training course and the emphasis placed on communication, there is only a provision for the assessments to be undertaken in English. Therefore, candidates for this type of training must be able to understand and speak the English language.
