Introduction

Since April 2012 it is possible to carry out certain asbestos works without a licence. Between non-licenced and licenced asbestos work lies notifiable non-licenced work (NNLW) which comes with additional requirements attached. 

The IATP Category B: Non-Licenced Work with Asbestos refresher course is intended for students renewing thier kowledge on carrying out non-licenced and notifiable non-licenced asbestos removal. The training delivers the knowledge needed for removing asbestos safely and providing the knowhow to implement the necessary controls required to complete the work.

The course is carried out in accordance of regulation 10 of work with materials containing asbestos, control of asbestos regulations 2012, approved code of practice and guidance (L143) and asbestos essentials HSG210.

Course Pre-Requisites

Learners must hold an in-date, formal Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos qualification

  • Recgonise why asbestos is dangerous
  • Know the different types of asbestos and their properties
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of asbestos applications, including the places and materials in which it is used
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of asbestos related legislation
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the equipment, methods and tasks in line with HSG210

The course addresses this excellently before moving on to the more technical requirements of asbestos removal.
